MANILA,Philippines – In cooperation with the Philippine National Police, the National Police Commission has granted educational assistance to the children of SAF44.

A total of 46 children were awarded with educational assistance certificates while 89 requests by other beneficiaries such as nephews, nieces and siblings are underway.

The National Police Commission (NAPOLCOM) has also amended the educational assistance program so that “illegitimate children” are also entitled to receive benefits.

PNP Public Information Office Chief PCSupt. Wilben Mayor said, ”There is no distinction now whether you are illegitimate or legitimate. The law does not distinguish considerations since you’re a child; because it is not the child’s fault .”

Aside from a four-year course in college, vocational scholarships such as, TESDA’s short term courses are also included in the educational program.

Beneficiaries of the SAF44 will annually receive Php10,000 the kindergarten; Php18,000 pesos for elementary and Php24,000 for high school. Vocational students will receive Php18,000 and Php 30,000 for college students per semester.

PNP has explicitly expressed that the educational assistance will continue to support the children of SAF44 until they finish college. (UNTV News)
