MANILA, Philippines – Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief Director General Ricardo Marquez, along with his officials on Thursday attended the senate hearing on PNP modernization and reorganization.

Marquez believes that the budget for the PNP capability program would be a big help.

Included in PNP’s wishlist to congress is to have its own police station buildings because 800 of the 1,766 police stations are “squatting” on government offices.

When asked about his deadline for the platforms, Marquez said, “My personal timetable is: I will not retire until I do not fulfill it.”

The Senate Committee on Public Order and Dangerous Drugs supports the vision and plans of the new PNP chief.

He particularly gained the praise of committee chair Sen. Grace Poe who said,” Itong bagong PNP chief natin ngayon, mayroon siyang vision—may plano. Hindi lang mga plano, nakakasagot siya sa mga tanong natin at importante yun.”

Senator Grace Poe said that even though PNP is facing controversy, there is no denying the heroism and sacrifices of some thousand honest and decent policemen who serve the public. (UNTV News)
