MANILA, Philippines — Sen. Jinggoy Estrada has his hopes up that he will follow the footsteps of Sen. Juan Ponce Enrile who is now enjoying provisional freedom granted to him by the court.
According to Estrada, he expects that the magistrates will let him post bail over the non-bailable offense of plunder which stemmed from the pork barrel scam.

He explained, he is not a flight risk, and he also voluntarily surrendered to the authorities after a warrant of arrest was issued. These were the same valid reasons mentioned in the resolution of the Supreme Court that favored Enrile.
“Iyong desisyon ng Korte Suprema tungkol doon sa release kay Sen. Enrile, I am praying and hoping na it will have a some favorable effects on us,” said Sen. Jinggoy Estrada.

Same as Sen. Enrile, Estrada has a filed a petition for certiorari in the Supreme Court asking for the dismissal of his cases due to lack of merit. As of this moment, his bail petition at the Sandiganbayan has not yet been resolved and is still going for more than a year.
Nevertheless, Estrada is delighted over Enrile’s return to senate, “Mabubuhay muli ang minorya. I’m very happy. I’m very very happy for him. Magiging makulay na naman ang senado with his presence there.”

Estrada also confirmed Enrile’s visit to him and Revilla at the PNP custodial center last Friday. “Advise niya sa amin not to lose hope and be strong and have faith.” (He advised us not to lose hope and be strong and have faith.)
