QUEZON CITY, Philippines — The Mayor of Quezon City, Herbert Bautista, is currently preparing his line-up for the 2016 elections.
Bautista said, there are positions in the district level, such as councilors, that need to be completed before filing the certificate of candidacy as a re-electionist.
In early 2015, the mayor tried to run for senator.
As the filing period drew closer and after consultations with friends and family he decided to run as re-electionist for his last term.
According to Bautista his decision to run again is prompted by the clamor for his re-election and continuity of his programs.
In his State of the City Address yesterday, he reported that within 9 months of 2015, the city’s gross revenue collection already reached Php 14.59 billion which is Php 2 billion higher in comparison to the same period of 2014.
The city also has Php 172.8 billion from a 30-year old collection case that may be used for development projects.
Bautista has no known opponent as of yet.
