MANDALUYONG CITY, Philippines — All motorists caught driving through bus lanes between Shaw Boulevard and Guadalupe in EDSA will be ticketed by the Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) and the Philippine National Police Highway Patrol Group (PNP-HPG) starting Monday, January 18, 2016.

This is for the smoother flow of traffic along Shaw Boulevard up to Guadalupe route.

On Monday, private vehicles are advised to avoid the yellow lane in Shaw Boulevard up to Guadalupe unless they are turning right.

Motorists caught violating will be issued a ticket.

The EDSA Traffic Technical Working Group has already tasked the MMDA to finish putting up plastic barriers at southbound lane of EDSA in Shaw boulevard up to Guadalupe until Friday.

The MMDA and the HPG will also deploy additional personnel along said area.

The HPG also plans to designate a carpool lane for vehicles fully loaded with passengers or they may also be allowed to pass through the yellow lane.

Moreover, a higher occupancy vehicle lane is among the suggestions being considered by the MMDA and the HPG to encourage motorists to practice carpooling and lessen the heavy traffic situation in EDSA. (MON JOCSON / UNTV News)
