MANILA, Philippines — The family of Conditional Cash Transfer (CCT) program beneficiary, Evangeline Pregoner, is one of the beneficiaries who receives a monthly cash grant 1,400 pesos thru the Conditional Cash Transfer program of the government.

“Gaya po ng marami sa atin pinangarap ko din po na magkaroon ng maayos na pamumuhay akala noon palaboy na nakatira sa kalye, madungis, pinanindidirihan at kinaiisan madalas ay hindi na napapansin ng gobyerno.”

(Like many of us, I dreamed of living a good life. I used to think I’m a street rat; dirty, shunned and ignored by the government.)

For the beneficiaries, this is a big help especially in their everyday living and in the education of their children.

Based on records from the Department of Social Welfare and Development, more than four million families are beneficiaries of Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program or 4Ps.

According to President Aquino, reducing poverty line is one of the biggest challenges since the beginning of his administration.

Aquino said, “However, I believe we have proven that — with enough political will, the right and prudent concentration of resources and funds, and the proper implementation of a solution borne of our correct identification of problem — massive transformation can take place.”

The president added, his administration has allotted the CCT program with bigger funds for the year 2016 with 62.7 billion pesos.

President Aquino also emphasized the importance of continuing programs that directly help the poor Filipino families.

“Since I have spoken of where we came, and what we did, and what we continue to do, allow me now to emphasize: sustaining, strengthening, and refining the CCT will be left to the hands of my successor. That person will be confronted with a very simple question, which I myself faced: will he help his countrymen help themselves or will he choose the counterproductive path?”

In line with this, the ADB is giving the government an additional 400 million dollars to finance the CCT program. (NEL MARIBOJOC / UNTV News)
