LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM – In response to the proposal of the Commission on Elections (COMELEC), the Philippine Embassy in London, United Kingdom will adopt the Automated Election System – Modified Postal Voting in the coming overseas absentee voting.

Last election, our compatriots in the United Kingdom only had postal voting as a way to cast their votes. Now, they have the option of voting in person.

The Philippine Embassy is carefully ensuring election preparations to encourage more registered voters to exercise their rights in the upcoming Philippine national elections.

It will open the overseas absentee voting from April 9 to May 9, along with other Philippine embassies worldwide.

Through personal voting, an individual may choose to go personally to the voting precinct at the Philippine Embassy in London beginning April 9 to May 9.

Field voting will also be available in Dublin, Ireland coinciding with the consular outreach mission that the embassy will organize on April 16 and 17, 2016.

In case voters from UK, Ireland and Greenland cannot come in person, they have the option to vote via postal voting.

Through this method, a voter needs to receive his mailing packet from the embassy or he may choose to request for it through courier, text or email to the Philippine embassy before April 22 so that the embassy may be able to send the ballot to the voter’s address

More than 24,000 registered voters are in the United Kingdom, five persons in Greenland, and more than 2,000 in Ireland.

Consul General Senen Mangalile is encouraging Filipinos overseas to participate in the coming elections.

“To our compatriots in the United Kingdom, Ireland and Greenland, our Embassy of the Philippines are cordially inviting you to exercise your right to suffrage in the national elections this coming April 9 to May 9, 2016. The Embassy will be open for 30 days and we will be waiting for you to exercise your right to choose the next leader of our country,” invites Consul General Senen Mangalile.
