National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) has released the result of a survey which was called Ambisyon Natin 2040. It contains a long-term vision for the Philippines based on aspirations, values and principles of Filipinos.

Ten thousand respondents nationwide were asked what do they want to achieve for themselves and for the country by the year 2040.

The study reveals that most of the respondents want a simple and comfortable life in 2040, while only few want to become very rich.

For Filipinos, comfortable and simple life means having a medium-sized home, enough earnings to support everyday needs and owning at least one car or vehicle. It also means having the capacity to provide their children college education and going on local trips for vacation.

For the country, majority of Filipinos want to have poverty and hunger totally eradicated and to have an adequate and decent jobs for all.

Access to decent housing, education and health care are among the goals that Filipinos want to achieve for the country.

To ensure a better future, corruption, especially the small-scale ones, must also be eradicated. Peace and security are also important in achieving personal and national prosperity, respondents added.

NEDA emphasized that the said goals are achievable through good policies and programs.

It also noted that the Ambisyon Natin 2040 would serve as a guide for succeeding administrations on what policies to implement for the betterment of Filipinos and the country as a whole.
