Water consumption during the dry season is expected to increase.
This is why the National Water Resources Board (NWRB) has decided to increase the allocation of water from Angat Dam for domestic use.
It will be increased to 46cms in April from 44cms.
“During summer, water consumption relatively increases, particularly with the high temperature caused by El Nino,” said Sevillo David, Executive Director of NWRB.
NWRB said, Angat Dam can still supply the needs of Metro Manila until the onset of wet season.
Even though the dam’s water level continue to decrease, it’s still 3 meters higher than its level last year.
Meanwhile, water allocation for agricultural use will be reduced because crops need lesser irrigation this season.
NWRB said, the government should explore other water sources due to the increasing population.
