TONDO, Manila — Voters at four precincts in Rosauro Almario Elementary School, Barangay 16, Tondo, Manila waited for six hours earlier this afternoon because of broken vote counting machines (VCM).

Some registered voters of the precincts decided to go home while others chose to patiently wait.

Voter Bernando Gabriel said, “Of course we want [to vote]. Even if it’s a single vote, it’s important. it’s also important for us.”

A replacement VCM from COMELEC arrived but the SD card was not functioning so the voters agreed to do manual voting rather than not vote at all. This is also in accordance with the COMELEC’s advice to the school principal.

The school principal sought the voters’ consent whether they will continue with the manual voting.

However, votes will be counted using the vote counting machine after the voting proper. Voters may watch the counting while political watchers of different candidates perform their duties.

The principal asks voters to have full confidence in all the BEIs since all the voters are invited to witness the counting.

However, many of the registered voters were dismayed by the VCM glitches.

R. Almario Elementary School in Tondo, has more than 35,000 voters and is the largest voting precinct in Manila.
