Based on a situationary report that the Philippine National Police Regional Office 5 has released, over 50 vote counting machines (VCMs) in the entire Bicol Region have been recorded as defective.
Most of the complaints were about malfunctioning features and paper jams.
Vice presidentiable candidate and Camarines Sur representative Leni Robredo is among the victims of these glitches when she had to wait for almost two hours to cast her vote at Tabuco Central School in Naga City.
The same fate was also suffered by vice presidentiable candidate Chiz Escudero at Buhatan Integrated National School in Sorsogon City due to a defective pen he used but immediately replaced.
In Albay, Governor Jose Maria Clemente ‘Joey’ Salceda cast his vote without a hitch at Peñafrancia Elementary School in Daraga.
But according to PSInsp Malu Calabaquib, spokesperson of PNP PRO5, the election can be considered peaceful despite the problems that they’ve encountered.
