Comelec Chairman Andres Bautista went to Novotel Araneta Center this morning together with representatives of the Parish Pastoral Council For Responsible Voting (PPCRV) and PDP Laban legal team. They went to inspect the vote counting machines (VCM) that were allegedly hidden on the 5th floor and two other rooms on the 7th floor.
According to PPCRV President Johnny Cardenas, they received a call from someone who introduced himself as one of the hotel staff at around 10 p.m. and said that there were VCMs in the room.
The room was opened at past one in the afternoon, after a Smartmatic staff checked-in, but no VCM was found.
Chairman Bautista requested the public not to quickly believe reports unless there is strong evidence so that time will not be wasted on unnecessary distractions and efforts will be focused on more important issues.
PDP Laban legal team Atty. Charlie Ho wanted to have a copy of the CCTV footage in the hotel to reassure that there are no smuggled and hidden VCMs inside the hotel room.
