Former President Joseph Estrada is once again elected as Manila Mayor for a second term.

The Manila City Board of Canvassers officially declared as mayor-elect Former President Joseph Erap Estrada after more than 17 hours of canvassing in the city.

Meanwhile, Alfredo Lim, his greatest rival in the mayoral race, received 280,464 votes.

Lim was defeated by Estrada with more than two thousand and six hundred votes.

Compared to the 2013 Elections, this year’s mayoral race is tighter.
This means, more than 210 thousand registered voters were not able to vote due to various reasons.

Estrada said he will prioritize peace and order situation in the city.

In relation to the upcoming and probable proclamation of Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte as the new president-elect of the country, Estrada said Duterte’s priorities must focus on the welfare of those living under the poverty line.
