Certificates of canvass from different provinces continue to arrive at Senate.
Among those that arrived today were the election returns (ER) and certificate of canvass (COC) from the areas of Romblon, Sorsogon, Mandaluyong City, Baguio City, Quirino, Ilocos Sur, Guimaras, Tarlac.
Delivered also were the ERs and COCs from Ifugao, Batanes and Zambales but these were not contained in ballot boxes.
Instead, they were placed inside ordinary boxes and transported via a rented vehicle as ordered by the Provincial Board of Canvassers.
“If we place them inside the metal ballot boxes, they wouldn’t fit in the vehicle so we decided to just put them inside ordinary boxes,” explained Atty. Nicasio Jacob, Provincial Election Supervisor in Mindanao.
“Practically speaking, we cannot use bigger vehicle for that purpose in fact we do not have that bigger,” he added.
Atty. Irving Calauad, Chairman of the Provincial Board of Canvasser in Batanes, placed the COC inside a laptop bag and preferred to transport them to the Senate alone.
“There is a ballot box but the transportation i preferred was the fastest. I travelled by myself,” Calauad said.
The COCs are sealed, bearing the sign of the PBOC though they were not inside the ballot boxes.
In the Senate, there are designated ballot boxes where the transported enveloped COCs will be placed.
Gen. Jose Balajadia, Head of the Senate Security, all ERs and COCs have arrived safe and in good shape.
Yesterday, ERs and COCs from San Juan City, Malabon, Local Absentee Voting, Oriental Mindoro, Pasig and Taguig-Pateros were the first to arrive.
Overall, there are 107 COCs in total from all regions, cities and provinces.
These include the Local Absentee Voting and a total of 61 COCs are expected to arrive from the Overseas Absentee Voting.
Every three hours, the Senate announces an update as to how many ERs and COCs have arrived.
