The public has nothing to worry about president-elect Rodrigo Duterte’s decision to appoint Las Piñas Congressman Mark Villar as new secretary of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).
Sen. Cynthia Villar has said, their family has no personal interest in the department which will soon be governed by her son.
“I am assuring the public that we have no personal interest in the department. The choice came from President Digong and we did not asked for it. My son is well equipped when he assumes post,”
Villar explained that their family is very careful when it comes to discussions dealing with business.
“We are very legitimate businessmen. We own a public company. We don’t need a government to earn. So, Mark would like to serve the people. Then, our family will be supportive,” Villar added.
Sen. Villar says, the C5 road extension project and the Daang Hari SLEX connector should not be an issue in her son’s appointment.
Villar further added that the said project belong to the outgoing president Benigno Aquino III.
The senator stated that C5 and Daang Hari are vital to residents in the area.
“And if you ask the people from this place how can they live without C5 and Daang Hari, meaning to say, the roads are those that are important to us and it built by the DPWH, not Senator Villar, although she was the one who envisioned it,” Villar clarified.
