METRO MANILA, Philippines — Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) is advising motorists to temporarily avoid certain roads in Quezon City this weekend due to road repairs by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), which will begin at 10:00 p.m. on Friday (May 27) and end at 5:00 a.m. on Monday (May 30).

Heavy traffic is expected along the southbound lane of Commonwealth Ave. from Commonwealth Market to the West Riverside Overpass.

Other affected areas to be avoided are the northbound lane of Commonwealth Avenue from Ever Gostesco mall to St. Peter Parish and the eastbound lane of Congressional Ave. Extension from Visayas Avenue to the section fronting Tierra Pura Subdivision.

Motorists are advised to take alternate routes like Visayas Avenue, Mindanao Avenue and Tandang Sora Avenue.

Other QC roads to steer clear off due to repairs are A. Bonifacio Street and Scout O.M. Alcaraz Street Corner Mayon.

Moreover, there will also be an excavation for civil works and horizontal directional drilling along the stretch of Imelda Avenue in Parañaque City.

In addition, there will be a road repair and flood control project at San Francisco Street, Maysilo Circle, in Mandaluyong City.

According to MMDA, they are doing their best to finish the said projects as soon as possible but it will still take a few months.

For this reason, they are encouraging motorists to take alternate routes instead.

For inquiries and updates, you may visit the Twitter page of MMDA agency via @mmda or call their hotline number at 1-3-6.
