DAVAO CITY, Philippines — The combined efforts of the Philippine National Police (PNP) and the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) will intensify their intelligence operations against lawless elements in Mindanao.
This, after a group of armed men stormed a municipal police station in Governor Generoso, Davao Oriental, kidnapping Chief Insp. Arnold Ongachen on May 29.
According to Davao Regional Police Chief Insp. Andrea Dela Cerna, they are now investigating the incident and have already recovered getaway vehicles allegedly used by the suspects.
“Sa report po natin noong natagpuan ang tatlong sasakyan, mayroon itong mga blood stains. So, that’s an indication na meron ding wounded or maybe casualty din po doon sa side ng ating mga lawless armed groups,” Dela Cerna said.
(We stated in our report that we found blood stains on the recovered vehicles. So, that’s an indication that there were wounded or maybe casualties on the side of the lawless armed group.)
They also created ‘Task Force Governor Generoso’ that conducts the investigation on the deficiencies and what’s lacking among the police stations in the area.
“Ginagawa din po natin ito for us to validate din ‘yung mga administrative and operation capabilities of our station para malaman din po natin saan ba tayo nagkulang and kung ano pa yung pwede nating gawin para hindi na po maulit ‘yung nangyari last Saturday,” added Dela Cerna.
(We are doing this for us to validate the administrative and operational capabilities of the our station for us to know which aspect we lacked and what improvements can we make to avoid the same incident that happened last Saturday.)
Uniformed men on duty in local police and army stations are reminded to be vigilant and do not ignore any information received in line with the operations of the armed group existing in their areas of duty.
