CEBU, Philippines — The Cebu Regional Police Office is gearing up to secure safety of students on the day of the opening of classes in June.
Based on the Oplan Balik Eskwela program drafted by the PNP, one of their main objectives is to safeguard the students from theft.
They also plan to strengthen police visibility and install police assistance desk in schools, terminals, malls where influx of last minute shoppers of school supplies is expected.
Likewise, they are intensifying the ordinance banning students inside internet shops during school hours.
“Not only that ‘yung opening of classes but during classes. Months after there will be delinquency in attending classes sa mga kabataan. So, I told my men to look after this internet shops and really implement the law,” said Acting Director PSSupt. Jonathan Cabal.
They would also draft plans about managing the traffic flow as heavy traffic situation is expected especially that the rehabilitation works of Mandaue-Mactan bridge is ongoing.
A traffic advisory scheme would also be implemented in Cebu City especially to roads near universities and colleges.
Police assistance in cleaning the school grounds is also appreciated in participation to the Brigada Eskwela program of the Department of Education.
