QUEZON CITY, Philippines — Many towing operators and personnel failed the exam given by the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority.
The exam is composed of 20 items and written in Filipino.
The examination aims to gauge the knowledge of towing personnel and operators in the rightful towing procedure.
“All towing crews, drivers and team leaders must know the procedures by heart because it is basic,” Impounding MMDA Chief Atty. Victor Nunez said.
The passing grade is 100%. Those who will fail will not be accredited.
“Tt must be 100, because if you have errors it simply means there’s a room for complaint, there’s a room for another illegal towing operation,” Nunez added.
On the first day, out of 74 who took the exam, no one got a perfect score. But on the second day, 13 out of 54 aced the test scoring 100% while on the last day, 12 out of 63 got it all correct.
Tow trucks will also undergo emission testing. Tow trucks who will fail the test will not be allowed to operate.
MMDA said, they are sad to learn that many failed despite seminars given to towing personnel as early as 2012.
“What is important here is that the MMDA is not behind in reminding and giving lectures for them to know the right process,” Nunez said.
MMDA will give a second chance to all those who failed.
If they fail again, they will not be allowed to operate anymore.
