QUEZON CITY, Philippines — Mang Roger of Brgy. San Martin de Porres in Cubao, Quezon City was stunned when he received his bill last January.
It amounted to P30,000 when the highest bill he has ever paid for so far was P4,000.
An inspection was conducted in his water line but no irregularities have been found.
“They want us to pay p30,000. We said, “why are to going to pay 30,000 when we did not consume it.” We have no such bill. We are not commercial instead residential,” complained Mang Roger.
The UNTV News reported this matter to the head office of Manila Water.
They found out that an interchange reading occurred.
“We have confirmed that there was an interchange reading. We are fixing the reading now to correct it for the next reading. At the same time we are updating the payment of our customer,” Manila Water spokesperson Jeric Sevilla explained.
And Manila Water has also found out that previous billing of Mang Roger has an excess of more than P3,000.
“We cannot directly refund the paid amount but it will be applied in the subsequent billing,” Revilla said.
Manila Water said, most of the excessive billing cases were due to the leaks.
And also illegal connection.
A simple leakage may add around 20-50 pesos to your monthly bill.
Manila Water advises their customers to report and irregular billing to their hotline 1627.
