The schedule of enrollment for incoming senior high school students has been extended in Central Luzon.
Regional Director Malcolm Garma said they will still accept enrollees up to the end of June to accommodate those who didn’t make it to the June 3 deadline.
“Let me take this opportunity to announce that for Region 3, we are extending the enrollment period for our Grade 11, meaning we will be accepting late enrollees,” Garma clarified.
Based on DepEd records, only about 50% or 57,637 students have enrolled as of June 3 for senior high school.
This is lower than their target of 100,133 students for incoming Grade 11 students nationwide.
“Based on our data as of Friday, as of June 3, more or less the enrollment is only 50% for senior high school or grade 11 for various reasons” Garma said.
DepEd said, one reason for the lower turn out of enrollees is the rumor that the new administration is allegedly planning to abolish the K to 12 Program.
Director Garma said the report is not true, in fact the program is supported by the incoming education secretary.
He also hopes that the new administration will continue the good programs initiated for the welfare of the youth.
