CEBU CITY, Philippines — The Department of Education-7 is joining the nationwide simultaneous earthquake drill set on June 20.
The agency advised the students to focus on the drill so they won’t have to panic in case of an earthquake.
“I urge them to really perform it, religiously, seriously. Do not take it lightly. Let us not wait for the actual earthquake to happen,” said Victor Yntig, DRRM-DepEd 7 focal person.
The agency is doing quarterly drills among schools and DepEd offices as part of their system.
Meanwhile, the agency will conduct an intensified inspection together with the local government unit engineers to identify hazard-prone school buildings.
Yntig assures that the newly constructed buildings are earthquake-resilient.
There are 13 divisions covered under DepEd Region 7.
