PARAÑAQUE, Philippines — In accordance with the directive of President-elect Rodrigo Duterte that policemen should undergo drug testing, 21 personnel of the Philippine National Police Maritime group including Director P/CSupt. Efren Perez have undergone random drug testing today.
Gen. Perez said, he has received reports that allegedly one of his men is into illegal drug use.
“We do not discount the possibilities that there are also some from the maritime group that use illegal drugs. So, this is one way of knowing who are those people,” Perez said.
He warned his men that whoever tests positive of illegal substance must stop to prevent dismissal from service.
“Administrative proceedings will be immediately conducted with those personnel to be out of the service.”
Perez emphasized that his men must never use illegal drugs considering their mandate of safeguarding the coastal areas which the syndicates usually use as gateway to bring in illegal drugs into the country.
“In the past, the maritime group recovered large package of shabu in Lubang island,” he narrated.
That’s why my number one instruction is to monitor the entry of illegal drugs.
Based on data from the PNP, about 1, 075 policemen have undergone drug test from May 10 to June 8.
