The metrowide earthquake drill next week will present a number of scenarios.
Metro Manila will be divided into four quadrants – north, east, south and west quadrants.
Also, the drill will include nearby provinces such as Cavite, Rizal and Bulacan.
Additional scenarios to be performed this year include the derailment of LRT-line 1 at the Central station;
The collapse of Guadalupe bridge, the main gateway to the south;
And the collapse of the MMDA building that would prompt the immediate relocation of the Command Center during an earthquake.
There would also be massive casualty incidents in Baseco compound in Manila.
Over 6,000 is expected to join the mock scenario of a collapsing building in eastwood.
An added scenario is possible looting, specifically at SM malls.
The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) has issued a memo ordering all public utility jeepneys and buses to hit the horns at exactly 9:00 a.m. on June 22 to signal the start of the drill.
MMDA urges other large organizations and companies to formulate their own scenarios.
“It’s up for you to create your own scenario but it should be based on the hazard risk map. Why would you create a scenario involving liquefaction if you are in Mandaluyong that is rock solid?” said MMDA chair Emerson Carlos.
Each family is also encouraged to participate in the drill.
The best to coordinate it is among barangays, specifically the families.
MMDA also urges other provinces to participate in the earthquake drill next week.
