Incoming Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief P/CSupt. Ronald ‘Bato’ Dela Rosa has to be ready for the big adjustments as soon as he assumes office.

He admits it is a big challenge for him to lead the 160,000-strong Philippine National Police force.

For this reason, Dela Rosa sought the advice of some of his former officers.

“i sought for advice. In fact, I have received a lot and hopefully, they would help me perform my duty.”

He first approached former PNP chief and now senator Panfilo Lacson who advised him not to be enticed by money.

Former President Fidel Ramos also gave him technical advice on how to handle the security measures against the New People’s Army and the Moro National Liberation Front or MNLF.

One of the best pieces of advice he has received was from outgoing police chief PDG. Ricardo Marquez.

“Start acting like a father to the PNP organization. Be a father to them. That’s the best advice I got from Gen. Marquez,” Dela Rosa said.

Dela Rosa avows that he is not involved in any syndicate or any irregularities.

“What I can offer to the people being the new PNP chief is that I come with a clean heart and clear conscience,” he proudly said.

Gen. Dela Rosa assures that he will not let the system of corruption overpower him. Instead, he will be the one to break it. He says, being the chief PNP is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity so he promises to do his best in performing his job.
