MANILA CITY, Philippines — Anti-illegal drugs operatives of Police Station 11 were forced to exchange gunfire with Tondo, Manila’s number one most wanted after the latter fired at them first during a buy bust operation at his residence past 7 p.m. last night (July 14).
The dead suspect was identified as Melchor dela Cruz a.k.a Syano; a notorious drug pusher and hold-upper in Parola Compound, Tondo.
According to Chief PSupt. Emerey Abating of Manila Police District Station 11, Dela Cruz pulled out a .38- caliber revolver in the middle of the sting operation when he sensed that he was dealing with undercover police.
There were no reported injuries among members of the operative.
Recovered from the crime scene is the .38- caliber revolver; a marked 500-peso bill; drug paraphernalia and undisclosed grams of shabu.
Meanwhile, two of Dela Cruz’ accomplices, one of whom is a 55-year old AWOL police, were also arrested.
They were identified as P03 Redentor Espinosa, a former member of PNP-PSPG, and Bembol Sanojo of the Commando Gang.
The arrested suspects are facing charges of violating Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act Of 2002. They are currently detained at MPD-Police Station 11. (JERICO ALBANO/UNTV News)
