MANILA, Philippines — President Rodrigo Duterte strongly advised businessman Peter Lim to subject himself to an investigation of NBI after seeing him last Friday.

The businessman supposedly wanted to clear his name after the President named a certain Peter Lim as one of the big-time drug lords in the country.

Justice Secretary Vitaliano Aguirre says, Lim must prove he is not the drug lord alluded to by the President.

“Since Peter Lim came forward to talk to the President and to clear himself, then the proper thing is to really for Peter Lim to prove and together with the police agencies, to prove that he has nothing to do with drugs,” Sec. Aguirre said.

Based on Bureau of Immigration’s data, there are 4,000 Peter Lims in the country.

“Some say the drug lord Peter Lim is dead alreay. Some are saying this Peter Lim is the same as Peter Co.” Sec. Aguirre added.

DOJ will not meddle in the inquiry which will be conducted by the National Bureau of Investigation.

However, Aguirre says, once verified that indeed Lim is the drug lord, proper charges should filed against him.

“Our police agencies like the NBI are doing what should be done – to establish identity or to establish culpability. Once evidence for culpability is established, then we are going to investigate after they filed the case before the DOJ.”

NBI Director Dante Gierran met with Aguirre at noon today.

He provided no details but he disclosed that Lim is going to the NBI this Thursday.
