QUEZON CITY, Philippines — The prosecution panel has presented its first witness against the camp of Senator JV Ejercito.
Sen. JV is facing a technical malversation charge for the procurement of high-powered weapons or submachine guns as supposed investment in disaster preparedness when he was still mayor of San Juan City in 2008.
The presentation of the first witness was quickly concluded without the assistant prosecutor of the Office of the Ombudsman undergoing cross examination since he had already submitted his sworn statement to the court.
On August 1, during the first hearing, the second witness of the prosecution will be presented against the Senator.
Meanwhile, today was the supposed arraignment of former customs commissioner and Muntinlupa representative Ruffy Biazon and former Oriental Mindoro representative Rodolfo Valencia at the 7th Division of Sandiganbayan.
However, Sandiganbayan deferred it since it has to resolve first the pending motion for reconsideration of the accused on the charges filed against them regarding the pork barrel scam.
Biason is facing malversation, graft and bribery because of alleged misappropriation of 2.7 million pesos from his pork barrel fund to fictitious projects of Janet Lim Napoles’ bogus NGO’s when he was still Muntinlupa representative in 2007.
Valencia is facing three counts each of malversation and graft for alleged misappropriation of 6.51 million pesos from his Priority Development Assistance Funds from 2008-2009 to finance fictitious projects against fake NGO’s of Napoles.
Reset schedule for the cancelled arraignment of the two accused still awaits order of the court.
Meanwhile, alleged PDAF scam queen Napoles pleaded not guilty to similar charges filed against her.
Among those who were arraigned were other PDAF scam accused and technology resource center officals.
