MANILA — Cyclist, Mark Vincent Geralde, 35, was declared dead on the spot after being shot by a still unidentified suspect along P. Casal Street, Quiapo, Manila at past 10:00 p.m. last night.
Based on CCTV footages of Barangay 385, the victim, Geralde was stopped in his tracks by a car.
Geralde seemed to have a verbal altercation with the car’s driver which escalated to a fist fight.
After a few moments of grappling, the two broke away from each other and returned to their respective vehicles.
But as Geralde was about to leave, the driver got out his car again, walked towards the cyclist and open fired.
Residents in the area heard four gun shots while authorities recovered four slugs of .45 caliber pistol and another slug of unidentified caliber.
18-year old college student, Rosell Bondoc who was near the scene was hit at the back by a stray bullet and was rushed to the hospital.
Based on investigation, road-rage conflict was the root cause of the tragic incident.
No one caught the plate number of the suspect’s vehicle but one witness is under the custody of police who allegedly remembers the shooter’s facial features. (BENEDICT GALAZAN / UNTV News & Rescue)
