MANILA — In line with President Rodrigo Duterte’s directive, the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) issued today Memorandum Order No. 09-07-2016 formally assigning code “8888” as the National Complaint Hotline Number starting August 1.

All public telecommunication entities are directed to connect 8888 calls to the Civil Service Commission and Presidential Action Center Citizens Complaint Center.

President Duterte initially expressed plans of setting up a 24-hour hotline for public complaints during his first Cabinet meeting on June 30.

He mentioned it again at a solidarity dinner where he promised the urban poor residents of Isla Puting Bato in Manila, “Magtayo ako ng hotline…Pag may reklamo kayo, nandiyan ‘yan sa Malacañang.” (UNTV News & Rescue)
