MANILA — The whole Luzon was placed on yellow alert today from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. due to low energy reserves.
According to the Department of Energy (DOE), four major power plants shut down today. These are: Calaca Unit1 and Unit2; Sual Unit 2 and Pagbilao Unit 2.
Based on the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP), Luzon is left with over 10,000 megawatts power supply while demand is at 9,000 megawatts.
MERALCO urge the public to conserve electricity to ease demand on thinning power reserves. (MON JOCSON/UNTV News & Rescue)
