Manila, Philippines – President Rodrigo Duterte disclosed this weekend that Senator Antonio Trillanes IV had closed his alleged bank account in DBS Bank even before the senator headed for Singapore on September 19.
President Duterte said Senator Trillanes had terminated the said account online several days before signing a waiver.
“Below is the screen shot of the DBS Alexandria account termination of Trillanes and where he sent the funds. He terminated it online on Sept. 8, 2017 past 10:00 p.m. Then left for Singapore after that to show his waiver to the bank teller in Singapore that he did not have an account,” Duterte said.
However, based on DBS Alexandria’s Twitter account, a bank account cannot be closed online. A depositor must personally visit the bank to do so.
Meanwhile, Presidential spokesperson Ernesto Abella clarified that the statement the President made must first be verified.
“All of these things have to be verified clearly. The President claims that it was done that way. So let’s make sure… and then there’s another party that says it’s not,” Abella said.
On the other hand, Senator Trillanes insists the information related to the alleged bank account revealed by President Duterte is nothing but bogus.
He said the source of the evidence the President cited is a swindler who allegedly identifies himself as a federal agent.
“They bought the bogus documents. At first they thought the documents were authentic but they were swindled. Anyway I will reveal all those tomorrow. Duterte was swindled. He even sites foreign governments, but all he has is a swindler as a source,” Trillanes said.
Senator Trillanes once again challenged President Duterte to sign a waiver and have his bank accounts, which are said to have huge amounts deposited in them, opened. – Rosalie Coz | UNTV News & Rescue
