MANILA, Philippines — Ten men who attempted to enter Camp Aguinaldo in Quezon City Monday morning, failed to even pass through the gates of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (PNP) national general headquarters.
According to them, they wanted to meet Department of National Defense (DND) Secretary Delfin Lorenzana to seek accreditation as intel and anti-crime agents.
“Upon verification, they have no prior appointment,” said AFP-PAO chief Col. Edgard Arevalo.
Arevalo said, the men were all wearing black shirts with a printed logo.
“They belong to a group called Southeast Asia Collective Defense Treaty,” said the AFP spokesperson.
Col. Arevalo added that they were carrying five firearms and ammunition.
“They were asked if they were carrying firearms. Then outright they [the men] said they were. When they were requested to present their authority to present firearms or exemption from Comelec gun ban, they were not able to show any,” said Arevalo.
The 10 armed men, most of whom are from Coronadal, South Cotabato, were arrested and turned over to the Quezon City Police District station to be filed with the necessary charges. — Lea Ylagan | UNTV News & Rescue
