MANILA, Philippines — To prevent becoming victims of robbery, the Philippine National Police (PNP) reminds parents to guide their children in using social media this long holiday.

The PNP advised the public not to update social media on their current location and activity; a practice more commonly known as #ATM or “at-the-moment” post.

This is especially so when no one will be left behind at home.

“In our experience, the posting of this itinerary allows criminals to monitor if you are not in your house,” said NCRPO spokesperson PSupt. Kimberly Molitas.

The police also reminded everyone not to post passports, tickets or flight itinerary on social media because it is a security risk.

“Those are private data that’s contained on your tickets and your passport. We remind everyone to please be cautious of your security,” said the police officer.

Aside from this, be sure that all appliances are unplugged before leaving home.

Be sure that all windows and doors are properly locked and keep important belongings secured inside the house.

Suspend all scheduled deliveries especially if no one is at home for five days and decrease the volume of the telephone ringer.

If traveling, be sure to have enough food and medicine for travel sickness.  — Rosalie Coz | UNTV News & Rescue
