MANILA, Philippines — The quo warranto petitioner against Chief Justice Maria Lourdes Sereno questioned some groups’ motion to intervene.

The petitioner’s legal counsel Atty. Manny Luna said the petitioners and respondents are the only parties that should be involved in solving the quo warranto petition that is allowed by the rule.

The Integrated Bar of the Philippines (IBP) and Makabayan groups are among those who want to intervene in the proceedings.

The petitioner reiterated that Sereno’s appointment is illegitimate because she did not present her complete Statement of Assets and Liabilities and Networth (SALN) when she applied for the position.

“Itong mga nakisawsaw (These meddlers) are not acting well within their rights. They’re causing some disturbance to the proceeding by muddling the issue. Sinisira po nila ang (They are ruining the) proceeding,” said Luna. — UNTV News & Rescue
