MANILA, Philippines — President Rodrigo Duterte has ordered Presidential Adviser on the Peace Process (OPAPP) Sec. Jesus Dureza to return to the negotiating table the resumption of peace talks between the government and the communist group.
Dureza said President Duterte underscored at the Cabinet meeting on Wednesday the forging of a “ceasefire agreement” to stop members of the Communist Party of the Philippines-New People’s Army-National Democratic Front (CPP-NPA-NDF) from staging attacks while peace talks are ongoing.
He also quoted President Duterte as saying, “Let’s give this [peace talks] another last chance.”
The chief executive has also assured that if necessary, he is ready to support the communists to end their collection of revolutionary tax. — UNTV News & Rescue
