An escapee has died while being treated at Laguna Medical Center following a grenade blast inside his home in Pagsanjan, Laguna.
The fugitive, identified as Nelson Romulo, suffered multiple shrapnel wounds to the head and body.
Romulo was detained at a jail facility in Mulanay, Quezon for charges of estafa and illegal possession of explosives but escaped in August 2015.
“Ang kaso niya pag-iingat din ng granada which is a non-bailable offense. Tumakas sya sa bilangguan,” Pagsanjan Chief of Police PSinsp Marlon Comia said.
(His case is possession of hand grenade which is a non-bailable offense. He escaped from prison.)
According to Pagsanjan Police, Romulo accidentally removed the pin from a grenade which then exploded.
