MANILA, Philippines — The Supreme Court, sitting as the Presidential Electoral Tribunal (PET) wants the Commission on Elections (Comelec) and former Senator Bongbong Marcos to comment on the shading threshold used in the 2016 elections.

“The Supreme Court, acting as the Presidential Electoral Tribunal, directed the protestant and the Commission on Elections to comment on the protestee’s motion for reconsideration dated April 19, 2018 on the requirement to observe a 50% threshold percentage on the recount within ten (10) days from notice,” SC Spokesperson Atty. Theodore Te said.

Vice President Leni Robredo has been urging the Tribunal to use the 25% threshold in the ongoing manual revision.

She wants the revisors to count the votes with less than half of the oval shaded.

The SC has earlier ruled that the 50% threshold should be used, dismissing Robredo’s motion. – Roderic Mendoza | UNTV News & Rescue
