Former Senator Edgardo Angara passed away this morning, May 13, from an apparent heart attack. He was 83.
This was confirmed by his son, Senator Sonny Angara, on his Twitter post.
“Sad to say my father former Sen. Edgardo Javier Angara passed on from this life this morning at the age of 83, from an apparent heart attack,” the younger Angara wrote.
Angara served as Senate president from 1993 to 1995. He was appointed Secretary of Agriculture from 1999 to 2001 then served in the Senate again from 2001 to 2013.
On May 17, 2017, President Rodrigo Duterte appointed Angara as special envoy of the Philippines to the European Union. — UNTV News & Rescue
