PASIG CITY, Philippines – The Department of Education (DepEd) announced on Monday, May 14, that the five percent tax on honoraria for teachers may be reimbursed within 15 days after the barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections.
“Puwede pong mareimburse ng ating mga teachers at electoral board ang mga nabawas na tax sa ating honoraria,” DepEd Election Task Force Operation and Monitoring Center Representative Atty. Marcelino Bragado said.
(Teachers and members of the electoral board may reimburse taxes deducted from their honoraria.)
Teachers who serve in the barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) elections are entitled to P5,000 honoraria and P1,000 transportation allowance.
For the reimbursement of the five percent tax, teachers need to fill out the sworn declaration form and submit it to DepEd.
“Ano po ba iyong sworn declaration? Nakalagay po doon iyong kanilang income yearly at kung pasok po sila diyan sa income bracket na iyan. Automatic po ire-reimburse iyong five percent,” he added.
(A sworn declaration indicates your yearly income and the income bracket you fall into. The five percent will automatically be reimbursed.)
Teachers may get their honoraria and transport allowance as well as the five percent tax reimbursement through their cash cards or ATM cards, according to Bragado, within 15 days after election. – Mai Bermudez | UNTV News & Rescue
