QUEZON CITY, Philippines – The House Committee on Local Government, Muslim Affairs and Peace, Reconciliation and Unity approved today, May 15, the version of House Speaker Pantaleon Alvarez of the proposed Bangsamoro Basic Law.
The said version is also aligned with the version of the Bangsamoro Transition Commission (BTC).
The bill was first passed at the committee level on April 17 without further amendments.
Meanwhile, some members of the Committee raised their opposition to what they claim as questionable provisions of the bill.
“The Bangsamoro police director shall not countermaned the order of the chief minister. This provision distorts the command authority of Camp Crame over the Bangsamoro Police,” said Lanao Del Norte Representative Khalid Mohamad Dimaporo.
The Committee report will be submitted to the plenary for debate and amendments. — Grace Casin | UNTV News & Rescue
