Makabayan congressmen filed on Wednesday, May 30, House Bill No. 7806 that seeks to give Australian missionary, Patricia Fox, a Filipino citizenship.

This was after the Bureau of Immigration forfeited her missionary visa for allegedly violating its terms and conditions that prohibit participation in political activities.

According to the Makabayan bloc, Fox should not be deported as she has been living in the country for 27 years carrying out humanitarian work for marginalized Filipinos.

(Sister Pat’s track record clearly shows who she has been serving in her 27 years in the country.)

Bayan Muna partylist Representative Carlos Zarate believes that Fox has earned the moral right to become Filipino.

Ang aming panawagan: huwag ideport, gawing Pilipino si Sister Pat,” he said.

(Her interest lies in pushing for the welfare of Filipino citizens, especially the poor. We should consider her to be more Filipino than actual Filipinos who prefer foreigners. Our plea: Do not deport. Make Sister Pat a Filipino citizen.)
