CEBU CITY, Philippines – Daanbantayan Mayor Vicente Loot is now recovering after he accidentally shot himself in the leg inside his vehicle on Wednesday, May 30.
Loot was on his way to attend a wake in Barangay Lanao, Daanbantayan in Cebu when the accident happened.
Citing the Cebu Provincial Police director, Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief Oscar Albayalde, said the gun was registered under Loot’s former aide.
Loot is now being treated at Cebu Doctors Hospital.
Earlier this month, Loot survived an ambush when armed men fired at his vehicle. Loot, a former police officer, is among the politicians named by President Rodrigo Duterte as allegedly involved in illegal drug trade. – UNTV News & Rescue
