QUEZON CITY, Philippines – The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) opened on Friday, June 1, its new laboratory service building next to its headquarters at NIA Road in Quezon City.

The 3-story building will house all evidence that PDEA recovers from their operations.

According to PDEA Director General Aaron Aquino, the new facility is equipped with the cooling system and state-of-the-art security features that will help preserve and protect important evidence.

PDEA is also improving its automated inventory system for strict monitoring even of its regional offices.

The PDEA laboratory service is the country’s premier drug forensic center as it houses the only forensic laboratory in the country that examines and traces methamphetamine hydrochloride or commonly known as “shabu.”

Since its establishment in 2002, up to two tons of illegal drugs have been destroyed in PDEA’s laboratory along with billions worth of drug paraphernalia. – Rey Pelayo | UNTV News & Rescue
