Twelve passengers of an L300 van were killed instantly when it rammed against a 10-wheeler truck at Sitio Lantawan Brgy. Astorgas Sta. Cruz Davao Del Sur, on Sunday, June 3.
According to Police Region XI spokesperson Police Chief Inspector Milgrace Driz , the initial investigation revealed that the L300 was speeding northbound and tried to maneuver the curved road by swerving to the opposite lane where it fatally collided with the truck which was driving southbound.
“The impact too strong which resulted in the death of the van’s 12 passengers right on the spot,” Driz said in local dialect.
The victims were all employees of Franklin Baker who were on their way to work.

- Jonathan Dadong
- Niña Itchon
- Jayson Tusan
- Recmar Bautista
- Maria Fe Regino
- Roy Pleños Itchon
- Joel Cedeño
- Durson Adlog
- Rannie Cabal
- Alfredo Beringuel
- Vicente Sanico
- An unidentified male person
Four survivors of the incident sustained injuries and were brought to Digos City Provincial Hospital. They are as follows:
- Abenjie Lumanta
- Ariel Entero Caña
- Aixa Puna
- Efren Presore (L300 van driver)
Another passenger, Ron Gie Rada, was declared dead on arrival.
