MANILA, Philippines – President Rodrigo Duterte appointed Thursday, June 7, Tourism Undersecretary Jose Gabriel “Pompee” La Viña to the Department of Agriculture (DA.)
La Viña, whose appointment paper was signed Wednesday, June 6, will take the job of Bernadette Romulo-Puyat as agriculture undersecretary.
Romulo-Puyat was appointed and confirmed without question as Secretary of the Department of Tourism (DOT) following the resignation of Wanda Teo.
La Viña’s appointment as tourism undersecretary drew flak because of his controversial dismissal as commissioner of the Social Security System (SSS) due to alleged misuse of public funds.

Meanwhile, the President also named former Arroyo lawyer Raul Lambino as presidential adviser for Northern Luzon from being administrator of the Cagayan Economic Zone Authority (CEZA.)
Lambino served as legal counsel and spokesperson to the former president now Pampanga 2nd District Representative Gloria Macapagal Arroyo. – UNTV News & Rescue
