Election watchdog, Atty. Glenn Chong
QUEZON CITY, Philippines – Election fraud accuser, Atty. Glenn Chong, claims he knows a senator who can explain the irregularities that happened in the 2016 national elections.
He said the senator, who he claims as his friend, is also convinced of the pieces of evidence he presented that the 2016 election was indeed rigged.
During his conversation with Kuya Daniel Razon in the program “Get It Straight with Daniel Razon” on Monday (August 13), Chong said even the senators themselves during an executive session, acknowledged that the election was fraudulent.
As a rule, what transpires at an executive session should remain confidential. When asked how he knew about the information, Chong said his senator-friend told him. He also acknowledged that by sharing the information with him, the senator took a risk.
“And I’m taking the risk by exposing it to the public,” Chong added.
At the possibility of being denied or denounced by the said senator, he said, “Kung ilaglag niya ako (if he will deny or denounce me), so be it.”
Chong explained that he was compelled to study the system of the automated elections after being a victim of rigged elections himself during the 2010 and 2013 polls.
He spearheaded the election watchdog Tanggulang Demokrasya which primarily aims to scrutinize the systems and processes imposed in previous elections.
He explained the difference between manual and automated elections.
“In manual elections, manual din ang dayaan. They are always susceptible to perception. Nakikita,” said Chong.
But with automated elections Chong said,”Wala ka talagang laban (You stand to lose) because all the cheating will take place within the machine.”
The former congressman from Biliran had been invited to the Senate hearing as a resource person several times during the course of the election fraud inquiry. But he said he had been deprived many times as well of the opportunity to speak on the issue, especially regarding the alleged early transmission of votes prior to the day of the 2016 automated elections.
“In 145 PCOS machines meron na po siyang laman na 4,114 na ballots before election day,” Chong said, “I can point that out. Sa audit log po (ng PCOS) makikita, sir. The log is the detailed list of all the transactions happened within the machine,” he explained.
Based on the information they received, Chong claimed there was huge difference between the number of votes from the transparency server and the number of votes from the central server of the Commission on Elections (Comelec).
He alleged there was a conspiracy between Comelec and the service provider Smartmatic. He also noted the response of former Comelec chair Sixto Brillantes about it.
“Ang lusot niya sinabutahe sila (he said they were sabotaged),” Chong said. “Hindi yung Comelec, hindi yung Smartmatic ang gumawa niyan (They said it wasn’t Comelec, it wasn’t Smartmatic)— somebody else sabotaged the elections.”
“Ang pinagbibintangan niya ako daw yung nagsabotahe ng eleksyon nila ( He’s accusing me of sabotaging their election),” Chong added.
The former congressman claimed of holding grudges against Senator Koko Pimentel for not giving him enough time to explain during the Senate inquiry.
He appeals to the Senate to conduct another inquiry where he can ask the senators to interrogate the poll body’s executive director, Atty. Jose Tolentino.
When Razon asked Chong if Atty. Tolentino is a suspect, the election watchdog replied, “Not in the sense na (that he is a ) suspect but tatanungin ko talaga siya (I will really interrogate him). I will put him on the spot,” he warned.
Before the discussion concluded, Chong asked his senator-friend to come out in the open and speak to shed light on the issue. Otherwise, he might name him in public, but only during the hearing proper. — Rey Pelayo / Marje Pelayo
