The Lower House on Tuesday approved on second reading House Bill 4113 that seeks to expand paid maternity leave to 100 days.
The proposed measure, which covers female employees in both government and private sector, also allows the extension of the maternity leave by 30 days without pay.
Under the current maternity law, pregnant employees are entitled to 60 days of paid maternity leave for a normal childbirth and 78 days for a cesarean delivery.
