LA UNION, Philippines — The mayor of Sudipen town in La Union was killed in an ambush at around 6:40 pm Monday, October 1.
Based on the initial police report, Mayor Alexander Boquing and his wife, Vice Mayor Wendy Joy Boquing, were on their way home after attending a wake when unidentified suspects open fired at their vehicle in Barangay Cadapli, Bangar, La Union.
“Apparently mayroong suspect on board a white pick-up na sinundan yung sasakyan nila Mayor. At pagdating nga sa lugar na ito, binaril,” said La Union PPO Provincial Director PSSupt Ricardo Layug Jr.
Mayor Boquing was pronounced dead on arrival at the hospital along with his driver, Boni Depdepen and police security escort, P02 Rolando Juanbe. The three sustained several gunshot wounds to the body.
His wife, Vice Mayor Wendy Joy Boquing was injured in the incident and was brought to the hospital for treatment.
