QUEZON CITY, Philippines – Charges have been filed against Russel Bermundo Lanuzo of Barangay Mabolo, Naga City after being arrested by members of the Naga City Police for involvement in illegal drugs trade.
Through a search warrant issued by Judge Timoteo Panga of the Iriga City RTC Branch 60, authorities raided Lanuzo’s house early dawn on Friday (December 14) where police recovered seven sachets of suspected shabu.
Lanuzo’s daughter, Zandra Mae Lanuzo, happens to be the girlfriend of Bureau of Correction (BuCor) Chief Nicanor Faeldon’s eldest son, Nicanor Faeldon Jr.
Four suspects were arrested in the incident including the younger Faeldon.
According to Naga City Director PSSupt. Felix Servita, Lanuzo’s household has been the subject of months-long surveillance by the Naga Police which, according to reports, have been used as a drug den.
Since Nicanor Jr. was among those inside the house during the operation, the police included him in the charges together with Lanuzo and two others.
Meanwhile, Director Faeldon’s legal counsel and spokesperson Atty. Jose Diño Jr., the younger Faeldon has no vices and the last time he spoke to his father was last month when he asked to continue his studies in Naga City.
At 31 years old ay bumabalik sa tamang landas so tuwang-tuwa naman po ang ama,’ Diño said.
The legal counsel assured that they will not meddle with the investigation involving the younger Faeldon.
In fact, according to Diño, the BuCor chief commends the efforts of the Naga police for its actions against illegal drugs.
Let the ax fall where it may be,” he concluded. – Marje Pelayo (with reports from Lea Ylagan)
